They're showing The Queen on Arts Central now. I watched it last year with Stella, Hueykia and Elise cause we didn't know what to watch and our first reaction was 'um. okay,' and for Stella, 'zzz'. We definitely didn't prepare ourselves for such a serious and solemn movie but after sitting through the whole thing I felt it was pretty good.
The movie's basically about how Princess Diana's death shocked the world but apparently not her mother, the Queen. When everyone was crying their hearts out and leaving loads of flowers outside the palace there wasn't any reaction of sorts from the royal family and people started criticising the Queen because she didn't do anything to SHOW that she cared, and they needed that kind of affirmation from her. And all through the movie it does seem like she's just moving on until near the end when she's alone in the woods, where she breaks down because she can't pretend to be the strong, calm, unaffected person that she feels she needs to be anymore.
Sometimes I feel like the Queen. Not in the diva sense of the word. I feel like the Queen I saw in the movie.
